Polvoron, a sweet treat for moms
One thing that I like with Mother’s Day is that I get to spend my ‘me’ time. I took advantage of that time by preparing a simple sweet treat for my friends who are moms themselves. I made Polvoron, a crumbly cookie/candy made from toasted flour, sugar and butter.
My sister from the Philippines shared her no-fail recipe for polvoron. Though the recipe is easy to follow, the most important material in making this treat is to have this contraption called polvoron moulder. Good thing my sister sent me a moulder to save me from going crazy in shaping each one. This moulder is also available in most Filipino stores.
Polvoron
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup confectioner sugar
Directions:
1. Toast the flour in medium heat until golden brown, stirring constantly.
2. Transfer the toasted flour in a big bowl. While the flour is still warm, mix in the powdered milk, confectioner sugar and the melted butter.
3. Shape into rounds or ovals using the polvoron moulder.
4. Wrap individually in a waxed paper or cellophane.

HI Tina,
Your recipe looks simple and delicious. I see you individually wrap the polvoron. Where do you get the wrapper? I find some cellophane locally but not sure if they are food grade so I settle for plastic wrap. I used to also use the polvoron mold but they gave me blisters. I have an easier way of molding the polvoron. Email me if you want to know how. Polvoron is one of my families’ favorites.
