Uniqlo, the Japanese casual wear designer, manufacturer and retailer recently opened two stores in 33rd Street and Fifth Avenue. They long had their presence in the city with their SoHo store but these stores were introduced with so much ad campaign. Take a look at the gallery of photos that I took the other day while on my way to work. It’s an understatement to say that they have invaded much of Manhattan.

And just how effective were their ads? The frugal in me became a victim. Who can resist a $9.90 Japanese Engineered Denim? I also liked that you can have your pants altered on the 3rd floor for $5.00 (it’s about $7 to $10 anywhere else). But more than the price, I’m a sucker for ‘prizes’ (read: freebies). The tote bag that they gave made my day and cemented me in their store history as being among the first 20,000 customers. Hail Uniqlo!
